Gehry Table

Architect Frank Gehry is best known for buildings cloaked in sculptural metal. The Guggenhiem Bilbao; the Gehry Tower in Hanover, Germany; and LA’s Walt DisneyConcert Hall are among the famed creations. Aside from buildings, Gehry has also designed furniture.

This table, made of corrugated cardboard with a glass top, is one of Gehry’s creations. First produced in 1973, the table is getting renewed interest, and is almost as interesting an experiment of material as Frank’s use of metal on buildings. (Ok, that is not completely true, the buildings are inherently more interesting, but using cardboard structurally is also pretty cool). At the end of the day, it is a a pretty robust piece and will stand up to years of abuse.

(via retro to go).
