We got together with up and coming music platform Fairtilizer to present you an interview with Dave from Chromeo and their Top Of 2008 playlist.

Dave gives us some insight on their inspiration and the latest happenings around Chromeo. Also they put together a playlist of their favorite 2008 releases, that you can listen to right here.

Check out the interview after the jump.

What are you currently up to?

I’m on a plane, flying to the UK to do some shows.

You recently got to play with Hall & Oates for Live From Daryl’s House, how was that?

A dream come true, no less.

How much of an influence have Hall & Oates been for Chromeo?

I guess you could say that without knowing it, they pretty much co-wrote half of our songs.

5 best Hall and Oates songs?

1. No Can Do
2. Adult Education
3. Sara Smile
4. Out of Touch
5. One On One

Which other artists would you wanna meet and perform with?

Steely Dan and DJ Quik.

5 albums that are essential to your collection?

Too many to name…Here are perhaps some less obvious ones:
Capone N Noreaga “The War Report”
Pete Rock & CL Smooth “The Main Ingredient”
The-Dream “Love/Hate”
Jodeci “The Show, The Afterparty, The Hotel”
Zoot Woman “Living In A Magazine”

What artists are you feelin’ in 2008?

Vampire Weekend, MGMT, Santogold, Fake Blood, Laidback Luke, Jamie Lidell, Robin Thicke (no joke), Weezy, Swizzy, Jeezy, Kanyeezy, Sébastien Tellier, Ne-Yo (no joke), The-Dream, Crookers, Late of the Pier, Cazals and of course the whole Fool’s Gold roster.

How important has the internet been for Chromeo?

It has allowed us to exist.

Where do you see the internet going in the future?

I want to say “more user generated content” but I have no idea what that means.
