A concise think piece from Holland Cotter in today’s NYT, “The Boom Is Over. Long Live Art!”, offers a brief run down of the effects of previous recessions on the contemporary art market. The article has a clear New York focus (for very obvious reasons) but that doesn’t minimize the thoughts. Most interesting are Cotter’s suggestions about how art schools should refocus.
