Book Mountain by MVRDV

A number of interesting library projects have crossed our path in the last few months. The “Book Mountain” is a new public library in the Netherlands. Designed by the Dutch firm MVRDV, ground has just broken on construction. From afar the libraries shelves are visible through the glass facade. A rather inventive approach, and interesting given the use of books in the facade of other libraries in Wales and America. Quite nice to see the contents of a building playing a role in the structural choices. (via Dezeen).

A mock up of the interior follows.
