Cooper Union For the Advancement of Science and Art

Architectural critic Nicolai Ouroussoff reviews the new academic building of The Cooper Union in today’s New York Times. Commissioned during the City’s flush years, Ouroussoff views the structure as one of the few examples of great art produced in self-indulgent times. The building was designed by Thom Mayne of Morphosis. While not perfect, Ouroussoff sees it as the type of bold architectural statement infrequently made in New York. The full review is worth a gander.
