The newly reopened El Museo del Barrio in New York does something rather spectacular in its new show. As Holland Cotter writes in the New York Times, “Some museums pull us in with familiar beauties; some send us out with new ideas.” He’s refering to the result of Nexus New York, El Museo’ s exhibition offering a chronological history of Latin art in New York which opens this Saturday. Cotter’s review is resoundingly positive, and he finds the collected material effective in linking Latin American art to the greater New York area. Read the review in full here.
El Museo de Barrio is located at 1230 5th Avenue, East Harlem, New York. Nexus New York runs through February 2010.
