Based in Turin, Sculptor Fabio Viale utilizes traditional techniques to form contemporary pieces drawing from the everyday. Especially impressive is Viale’s ability to compose elements that seem suspended in time. For example, “Piacere!” lifts a piece of toilet paper in suspension (view after the jump). Another playful adaptation of traditional sculpture tattoos the torso. Yatzer produced a full profile on Viale, which is worth checking in full. Again, the push of his work comes from an ability to deceive, and more accurately prompt questions in the viewer. Often these questions are as simple as “What?” but nonetheless, Viale achieves in breaking formal boundaries in the medium.
