No stranger to working on contemporary art museums, contemporary designer Zaha Hadid was charged with creating space for Italy’s first public institutions dedicated to the subject. The MAXXI is broken into two spaces, one each for art and architecture. Duality, and plurality, of spatial use dictated much of the concern with movement between galleries and (hence) across the disciplines central to the formation of the building.
