Jeff Jacobson hails from Des Moines, Iowa, where he was born in 1946. His interested in photography developed while he was practicing as a ACLU Lawyer in the American South during the 1970s. From jails and rural areas, Jacobson expanded his subjects and his knowledge of photography. In 1974 he stopped practicing law and started practicing photography full time.
Since that time, Jacobson’s photography has featured in publications from Life to The New York Times Magazine. His work is included in the permanent collections of The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The Museum of Fine Arts Houston, and the Hammer Museum (among many others). BOOOOM! has published a few choice images recently, some of which are shared here.
