Contemporary Chilean muralists will star in Chile Estyle at Carmichael Gallery of Contemporary Art from December 10 through December 23, 2009.
Highlighted is the work of Cekis, Inti, La Robot de Madera, and the duo Aislap and Agotok. These artists are representative of the Chilean style of urban art that has exploded since the fall of Pinochet in the early 1990s. Influenced by Mexican muralists, wildstyle, and Brazilian graffiti, Chilean artists have incorporated a variety techniques and visual languages to give rise to a distinct style.
The exhibition marks the first time Chilean artists practicing contemporary urban styles will be shown in the United States.
