I’ve got a thing for stadium architecture. Given that, the Olympic Games generate a few interesting sport specific structures. For the Vancouver Winter Games, Cannon Design provided the Richmond Olympic Oval. The host site of both long and short track speed skating, Richmond Olympic Oval was designed to incorporate three primary themes – flow, flight, and fusion. Situated on the banks of the Fraser River, the Oval celebrates the most common local bird, the heron.
