The Baroque World of Fernando Botero is now on view at the Nevada Museum of Art. The artist is best known for domestic and social scenes of bold color featuring a portly cast of characters. A proud Colombian, Botero studied at the Academia San Fernando in Madrid, where he became enchanted with the work of Goya and Velazquez.

The exhibition examines Botero’s indebtedness to 19th-century European artists and highlights his paintings and sculptures. Open until July 25, 2010. Check out the full review at The Bee.
