“New Art for a New Century: Contemporary Acquisitions 2000–2010″ at OCMA

Now on view at the Orange County Museum of Art, New Art For a New Century: Contemporary Acquisitions 2000-2010 celebrates 90 works of art made in the first decade of the 21st-century. The work is diverse, hitting painting, print, photography, video, and more. The pieces on display are representative of a major institutional push to collect contemporary and expand collections… to date the push has realized new acquisitions of some 430 works of art representing regional, national, and international artists.

Street art, in broad terms, finds space in the collecting policy. The above example, by Allison Miller, should appeal to fans of the genre.

More examples from the exhibition, which runs to September 19, 2010, after the jump.
