Visiting Luisa Via Roma

As part of the Firenze4Ever Winter 2010 event we had the chance to take a closer look at one of Italy’s premier fashion retailers – Luisa Via Roma. The Florence store was originally opened as a hat store in 1930. Over time it has developed into one of the most cutting edge fashion stores of Italy and even Europe. Not shy of taking risks you will find anything from Rick Owens, Lanvin to Band of Outsiders, Dior Homme and Kris Van Assche in the shop. Since its renovation in 2008 the store could not represent their product better. Next to full mens and womens selections, the first floor also features a great restaurant with terrasse.

Open a store today and buying these brands is one thing, but having been in the fashion game for such a long time and understanding over and over again where the market is heading, what the consumer needs, is all the more impressive. The store is still run by the same family that has opened it over 80 years ago.
