Versioned Chairs by Sam Jacobs

These odd chairs, more objects, are the result of a collaboration between architect/designer Sam Jacobs and a number of artists. The idea is to provoke some “lost in translation” elements as the design process moves from one step to another. First, Jacobs (who is co-owner of London-based Fat) made notes pertaining to the look of the chair. These went to artists who produced the sketches. Finally, those sketches hit 3D rendering. In the end, we get a series of chairs that have been distorted pieces that serve as physical manifestations of Jacobs’ intellectual project. (via Frame).

More Versioned chairs come after the jump.
