On February 28, 2011, the V&A will release Street Art: Contemporary Prints.
Shortlist‘s announcement of the book is fantastic –
Over-officious local authorities may send teams to whitewash walls within moments of new street art appearing, but for the majority it’s viewed as a modern phenomenon to be applauded. Even David Cameron’s on board — his first official gift to President Obama was a painting by London street artist Eine.
There’s more Eine on display in a new book, Street Art: Contemporary Prints, which also contains work by Banksy, Jamie Hewlett and D*Face. As well as a standard edition, it also comes in a limited collector’s edition available exclusively at the V&A Shop and Black Rat Projects.
And if the V&A endorses anything as art, you can be sure it’s worth it.
Black Rat Projects will host an exhibition of prints from the book this coming April. More prints can be viewed now after the jump.
