The notion of paying tribute to a fallen legend on a product blog is plagued with difficulty, so we’ll just say March 9 seems an appropriate day to highlight a New York street icon.

While the above 6inch boot may seem the same as Timberland‘s been pumping out since 1973, there is more to it than meets the eye. This fall, Timberland will introduce anti-fatigue comfort technology in each of the brand’s classic silhouettes. The 6inch is clearly the greatest and for good reason kicks off an awareness campaign that finds heritage meeting innovation. Without changing the silhouette, they’ve endeavoured to make the boot more comfortable – with better forefoot flex and more absorbent footbed.

Timberland’s calling it “an icon, remastered.”

Special thanks to Marcus Troy for sharing these photographs.

More after the jump.
