Bean Pole, South Korea’s largest clothing brand founded in 1989, has collaborated for the second time with designer Kim Jones for Fall/Winter 2011. The designer, who is currently heading the menswear division of Louis Vuitton, infuses a new style into the Korean brand, which is both modern and easy to wear. The collection will be available in the United States for the first time exclusively at Opening Ceremony.
Combining youthful proportions with a traditional color palette was important to the designer in order to appeal to both the traditional Bean Pole customer and yet a more fashionably led consumer. The graphics were inspired by one of Jones’ favorite artists, Ed Ruscha, and the prints include some of his favorite species, such as the raccoon dog.
