Beck’s Green Box Project Berlin

We have already reported before about the Beck’s Green Box Project, bringing together an incredible line-up of artists for a virtual reality showcase. Some of you might remember the Dr. Romanelli skull from a while ago.

Last week the project officially launched in Berlin with a special event at Soho House. For the occasion, FriendsWithYou has created a very cool augmented reality animation, which be seen at the Brandenburger Tor in Berlin at the moment. The artwork can be seen through the Beck’s Key App with your smartphone, tablet computer and/or iPad. Basically you open up the app, point your devices camera at the Beck’s Green Box and the box acts like a QR code reader, pulling up a different artwork at every location. At the Brandenburger Tor the above FriendsWithYou artwork appears on your screen, hovering above the iconic Berlin landmark.

At the event at Soho House in Berlin, they demonstrated live the artworks of LuckyMe and Reed + Rader. Similar to the above procedure, at the center of attention of the event, was the Beck’s Green Box, with each side of the cube showing a different artwork when pointed at with a device that has the app.

Furthermore Beck’s has launched a pop-up space on Torstrasse at the Appel Design Gallery, where you also find a cube and they further explain you how the 4D augmented reality art works.
