Spotify has without any doubt become one of the strongest platforms in music today, offering a comprehensive music streaming service that works, is easy to use and offers a pretty complete catalogue. Recently they have been taking it to the next level – rather than only being an application, Spotify wants to become a platform, just like Facebook is for social networking for example. Spotify wants to become the go to music platform, now allowing third parties to produce apps. An interesting move and we cannot wait to see if it will actually take off or not.
This week Spotify announced a series of new high profile apps, in collaboration with DefJam, Classify, Filtr, The Legacy Of, Digster, Domino, [PIAS], The Complete Collection, Matador Records, Hot or Not, Universal, Sony, Warner, EMI and other partners.
If you are using some of them already, let us know what you think in the comments.
