While the Leica event is still going on in Berlin at the moment, we can already report about the two most interesting announcements of the event – the Leica M Monochrome and the Leica X2.
The M Monochrome comes with 18 megapixel, 100% sharper imaging, and with a newly developed monochrome CCD processor. Yes, we are talking about a digital camera here. The camera comes in a beautiful black chrome finish. The camera will go for 8000 USD retail.
The X2 follows up on the compact X1, and will be available in two colorways (silver and black), featuring a 16.1 Megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, automatic and manual operation and will connect to a hi-res electronic viewfinder. The compact camera comes in all black or black/silver for 2000 USD.
We will add more images of the cameras as they become available. The presentation is still going on, so if other facts become available we will let you guys know.
UPDATE: The M Monochrom (Monochrom, not Monochrome) is literally a monochrome camera – it ONLY shoots in black and white.
Check out detailed images of the two new cameras after the jump.
