Dazed Digital talk to a designer we’ve been keeping an eye on for a while. Alexandre Mattiussi, a native of Normandy, is the man behind AMI. A label still in its infancy, this is a project informed by some pretty impressive apprenticeships. Dior, Ozwald Boateng, Pierre Hardy, Marc Jacobs…Alexandre’s CV is intimidating to say the least. However, if this interview is anything to go by, his outlook on fashion is more average wearer on the street rather than a designer in his tower.
“The way I design? It’s about keeping the skills from luxury brands because of the quality of the fabrics, the way we cut the clothes, the way everything is made, but trying to make it more real. I didn’t find clothes that I wanted to wear because things were too creative or too expensive. And when they were less expensive they were too casual. I’m trying to keep it classical and chic, achievable.”
