After almost 11 years of work the Louvre’s new wing dedicated to Islamic Art is now open to the public. Amidst the awe inspiring palace walls it is housed under a futuristic looking ceiling, designed by architects Rudy Ricciotti and Mario Bellini. It showcases a collection of almost 18,000 artifacts that range from the 7th to the 19th century, making it the West’s most valuable and extensive islamic art collection. Definitely worth a visit.
