Mejiro House in Tokyo by MDS

The ‘Mejiro House’ by Japanese company MDS is set in the densly populated downtown of Japan’s major city Tokyo. When passing it on the street the house blocks unwanted views completely with its concrete shell that is built above the first level the garage and it’s entry. Although it seems like an isolated solid private residence from the outside it has a light filled spacious and airy interior. Provided by a double-storey courtyard carving into the earth, daylight can enter the living spaces in the basement and ground levels through a wall of transparent glass.

Click through the gallery above for a look inside the house.
