Monocle open their first Lobby shop, sitting in the grand surrounds of the Hyatt Regency in London. The magazine has always sold itself as an international travel publication of the luxury variety; fancy pants luggage, fantasy locations and various other slick businessman stylings, so the move isn’t a surprise. Editor Tyler Brûlé comments – “The hotel lobby shop is something we’ve long been interested in at Monocle; it brings together travel, retail, newsstands and design. Moreover it’s a place that has long been neglected but is an essential outlet for our readership.” No mention of emergency Twix or no brand paracetamol but we’ll keep you updated. For now find obscure titles, international journals and collaboration goods from the likes of Comme des Garçons, Drakes and Porter at The Churchill, 30 Portman Square, London, W1H 7BH.
