For our hike I was blessed with the Timberland GT Scramble boot. As far as looks go, “pre-distressed” usually isn’t my preference, but in this case it worked, one, because we got them dirty right away and two, because box-fresh hikers are a bit of an odd look anyways. On my pair, the orange laces also made for a nice contrast against the brown leather upper.
Performance-wise the mid height boots were very comfortable with a padded tongue and collar and a cushioned EVA midsole. The Smartwool lining/footbed was soft and warm, while the waterproof leather upper kept me dry when splashing in puddles. The lugged outsole and toe bumper also gripped well in all-conditions, allowing me to easily stay moving over any obstacles I encountered.
