In 1935, after six of his friends had died in a mountaineering accident, partly due to insufficient footwear, Vitale Bramani took on the task of providing quality rubber soles. With a financial backing of Leopoldo Pirelli of Pirelli tires, Bramani founded his company Vibram, producing his first patented rubber lug soles, replacing leather soles fitted with hobnails or steel cleats, which were commonly used during that time. Usually best known among the outdoor community, recent years have seen the Vibram sole, especially the white wedge version, spreading to fashion. For this weeks second Buyer’s Guide, we have roamed the stores to present you a selection of our favourite Vibram boots. See them after the jump.
