The Weekly Outfit: A November Weekend In Stockholm

Since the author of the following lines is currently enjoying a brief, but, despite the season, very nice and sunny stay in Stockholm, this week’s outfit is entirely comprised of Swedish brands. Usually known for its rather minimalistic approach, this weeks suggestions try to capture Swedish fashion in a rather broad context, ranging from classic outerwear to high fashion labels, resulting in a eclectic yet contemporary look. See the entire outfit after the jump.

Whyred – Laaki Knitted Merino Wool Hat

Fusing contemporary looks, superior quality materials and a keen eye for smart tayloring, Whyred earned a reputation of an “indie super label” in no time. Speaking of quality materials, this knitted Merino wool will keep your head and ears warm for sure. Get it directly at Whyred’s webshop.

Fjällräven – Jacket No.68

Founded in 1960 by Åke Nordin, Swedish brand Fjällräven is not only one of the oldest suppliers of outdoor gear, but also spearheaded the design and development of a functional, and at the same time stylish, garment. The best example might be the Jacket No.68. Derived from the classic Greenland jacket, this updated version features the same G-1000® Eco & Heavy Duty fabric. Due to its ruggedness, its water repellent and highly breathable features, this jacket is the perfect choice to keep the Scandinavian climate at bay. Get it at Endclothing.

Our Legacy – Heavy Knitted Round Neck Sweater

When it comes to heritage inspired contemporary Swedish fashion brands Our Legacy are my go-to guys. The above sweater is made of the finest weatherproof Italian wool and features a subtle off-white color, as well as a casual yet classic knitted pattern. Get it at Soto.

Acne – Ace Cash Slim-Fit Jeans

Sweden spawned a great number of fashion forward brands, no doubt about that. But if I had to name just one, it would be Acne. They not only paved the way for skinny jeans, but also for the whole Scandinavian fashion craze, which has already cooled down by now. Still, Acne ranks among the leading brands when it comes to jeans. The one featured above is a slim (but not skinny) fit, and is crafted, as always from high quality denim. They are available at Mr. Porter

Happy Socks – Wool Blend Sock

Contrasting socks are are every outfit’s crowning piece. Like these made of a wool blend by Swedish brand Happy Socks. Get them at OiPolloi.

Tretorn‘s history can be traced back over a hundred years. Founded in Helsingborg in 1891, the company started out producing rubber boots, besides other products, such as hoses, bicycle pedals and balls. Relying on their rich brand heritage the brand is still around providing high quality sporting goods and casual yet functional footwear. The above Highlander boots feature a leather upper, a D-ring lacing system and a sneaker inspired rubber sole. Get them at Needsupply.
