The 5 Best New Music Videos Of The Week – Ryan Hemsworth, Sky Ferreira & More

After a brief hiatus (involving too much turkey and whiskey) we’re back with our best new music videos of the week. This week we’ve got fat booties, black lights and a one-man dance party in the woods for your viewing pleasure. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

Toro y Moi – Say That (Dir. HARRYS)

What a way to kick off the New Year. Chaz is back with another funky foot-tapping, hip-shaking melody. Just like his last release ‘So Many Details’ (also directed by HARRYS) we see a more stoney-faced side to Chaz. Although don’t let the frowning fool you, judging by the fresh/nerdy dance moves in the forest, he still knows how to get down.

Side note: 1:15 is pure gold.

Sky Ferreira – Lost In My Bedroom (Dir. Grant Singer)

A lo-fi, sweaty grungefest from the same guy that brought you Ferreira’s pouting and pensive ‘Everything is Embarrassing’ video – Grant Singer’s got range. This one will leave you needing a (cold) shower.

Benzel – Fallin’ Love (Dir. Haley Wollens)

Although also filmed in a bedroom, this one is pretty much the opposite of Sky Ferreira’s latest video. When that blacklight turns on, shit jumps up a notch. Benzel continue to push the boundaries and I think 2013 will be their breakout year. Oh and another thing, they’re only FIFTEEN AND SIXTEEN!

Kendrick Lamar – Backseat Freestyle (Dir. Jerome D, Dave Free & Kendrick Lamar)

Featuring footage in Paris and Compton, Kendrick has thrown down the gauntlet with his directorial debut. The close-ups of the Eiffel Tower help give that line some visual clarity and with a cameo from the infamous ‘Sherane’ it’s not too hard to work out why she got a song named after her on ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city.’

Ryan Hemsworth – Colour And Movement (Dir. Yoni Lappin)

Ryan Hemsworth became one of the breakthrough acts of 2012 with his stellar remixes and intricate production. Comfortable producing Pop, R&B and Trap the young Canadian is a serious force to be reckoned with. He’s been a very busy man this past year so I don’t really blame him for getting a bunch of women armed with cigarettes and ‘Who the fuck are you?’ stares to stand in for him in his latest video.
