Professional microcar collector Bruce Weiner has unveiled a real life version of Hot Wheels’ classic ‘Whatta Drag’ toy car. The original toy car was a take on the classic BMW Isetta ‘bubble car’ sold around Europe in the 1950s, but had never actually been produced by the famed German carmaker – until now that is.
Mr. Weiner commissioned a real life version of the imaginative vehicle out of an original BMW Isetta. The revitalized single seater comes equipped with a 730-horsepower Chevy V8 engine and is therefore designed to be a fully-functional drag racer.
The vehicle will be auctioned off along with the rest of Mr. Weiner’s collection in February at the Bruce Weiner Microcar Museum in Georgia. The car is expected to fetch between $75,000 and $100,000. A reasonable price given the car’s singularity.
