Artek Launches 2nd Cycle Vintage Furniture Store

“Nothing old is ever reborn but neither does it totally disappear. And that which has once been born, will always reappear in a new form”

There is quite some good money to be made with old (designer-) furniture, no doubt about that. Finnish furniture company Artek has recently launched its vintage and 2nd cycle online store and a number of retail stores throughout Scandinavia. Taking inspiration from the above Alvar Aalto’s quote, Artek began collecting the designer and company founder’s stools from fleamarkets, garage sales, and schools, with the intent to give them a second life and at the same time raise awareness about conscious consuming. Besides Aalto’s creations, the shops offer a wide variety of furniture by other designers as well, including Charles and Ray Eams, Verner Panton and Peter Hvidt. Check out their official website or drop by the stores, if you happen to be in Scandinavia.
