Today we come across a fantastic new project by Nudie Jeans. The Swedish denim house branches out into the interiors dominion this Spring with the launch of Post-Consumer Recycled Denim Rugs. An extension of the Post Recycled Jeans initiative in Spring 2012, which saw 500 jeans recycled from 500 donated worn-in Nudie Jeans, these rustic Scandinavian-style rag rugs are similarly produced from old worn out Nudie denim. The production process involves each jean being cut into serrated strips, sewn together and rolled on spools. The strips are then skillfully hand woven together on a traditional manual shuttle loom.
Produced in Turkey in collaboration with Nudie’s organic denim supplier Bossa, the rugs retail at $599 (399€), measuring 2 x 1,5 m., and are exclusively available at Nudie Jeans House, Los Angeles and Nudie Jeans Concept Stores globally.
