Meet the Detroit Electric SP:01, the World’s Fastest Pure-Electric Car

Detroit Electric’s SP:01 is on track to become the world’s fast pure-electric production car. The 2-seater limited edition vehicle tops out at 155 mph and goes from 0 – 100 kmph in just 3.7 seconds. A mid-mounted 200bhp electric motor powers the rear-wheel drive car while the carbon-fiber bodywork allows the SP:01 to weigh in at 1,070 kg. The vehicle is expected to spearhead the production of a diverse family of all-electric production cars including 2 other high-performance models scheduled to enter production by the end of 2014. The SP:01 is expected to begin production beginning in August with a release not so long after.
