VICE magazine’s foray into cable television programing was realized with the release of their first episode of risque journalism on HBO last week. Tackling issues of political assassination in the Philippines – where election season is more like hunting season – VICE followed the cycle of violence in this gun-crazy island nation all the way from an underground factory where illicit weapons are made to the villages full of young men who can’t wait to get their hands on them. Additionally, founder Shane Smith traveled to Afghanistan where he tried to understand the culture of childhood suicide bombers. While embedding has been disabled, head over to the VICE YouTube channel to watch the episode in its entirety.
