Said to be inspired by the Greek myth of Ariadne, siblings Michela and Paolo of Baldessari e Baldessari create this Arianna adjustable lamp, more sculpture than lighting. Cherrywood pieces mimic the Yarn Swift, an expandable object used to hold threads, similar in mechanism to an umbrella. In line with the story, Ariadne being closely associated with weaving, the pair suggest placing yarns across the body whose hinged form allows for changes in scale and shape. More in the gallery.
