After presenting a prototype just last year, German car manufacturer Porsche has introduced the final version of its latest model, the Porsche 918 Spyder. Built around the concept of combining maximum performance with minimal consumption, the 918 Spyder was created entirely around the hybrid drive and features a carbon fiber body with a low center of gravity resulting in a slightly rear-end biased axle load distribution. A “map switch” on the steering wheel allows drivers to choose from five operating modes which then combine the efficiency of three separate power units. Most impressive is the 4.6-liter, eight-cylinder engine that produces 608 horsepower and the car’s ability to go from 0-62 km/h in 7 seconds when running in pure electric mode.
