Right on the heels of their acquisition of Tumblr for a cool $1.1 billion, Yahoo! has unveiled a newly redesigned Flickr featuring a far more pleasant viewing experience along with a host of other improvements. For starters, each user gets a free terabyte of data allowing for the uploading of full-resolution images in addition to a brand new Flickr app for Android users. The new browsing experience, branded under the word “Spectaculr,” focuses far more around visual cues than its predecessor and puts photos back at the heart of Flickr.
It looks like Yahoo! has big plans for both Tumblr and Flickr but whether they are able to build upon the past success of both platforms remains to be seen. In the meantime, take a look at the redesign for yourself here.
