Inspiration for I Love Ugly‘s May 2013 collection reportedly came from a recent trip to Tokyo. “We see Japan as a place that’s ahead of the curve when it comes to design and culture,” explains I Love Ugly. Vintage artwork with vibrant heritage prints such as the Japanese Tea Gardens of the Osaka Frankie Shirt are the core elements of this range. For the brand’s first denim jean offering they are using specially sourced Japanese selvedge denim, the artisanal Japanese production process of selvedge denim makes for some of the finest denim in the world. The May collection of I Love Ugly is now available online and in selected stores worldwide.
