Always happy to see designers pushing the boundaries, given the freedom to do their thing full-tilt (an ethos at the heart of LC:M), we’re just as pleased to see long-established British labels roll out classic collections. Nicole Farhi for Spring Summer 2014 had the kind of ease and lightness of touch that comes with experience. Playing with a 50s/60s summer look, you know, that Talented Mr Ripley vibe, designer Joanna Sykes impresses with her first show for the label. From fine knitwear to tailoring, an outstanding colour palette of navy, greys, olives and creams alongside some beautiful flecked fabrics, everything was cut on the slimmer side, flattering rather than ‘skinny fit’. Clean, easy, understated with plenty of clever texture and precise lines demanding a closer look. Head to the gallery.
