The Spring/Summer 2014 collection by Band of Outsiders is designed to convey the lifestyle of a touring musician. Designer Scott Sternberg used Mick Jagger as inspiration for this unique idea and chose the theme of protest as the collection’s basic message. The hooded anorak and poncho are inspired by Wall Street occupiers, while the shibori-dyed evening jacket and shorts look like an upscale version of the tie-dye clothes ’60s radicals used to wear. The collection riffed on the codes and shapes Band of Outsiders has been establishing throughout their nine years of existence, from its rake-thin cuts to cute prints. Also new interpretations of old favorites returned, like the sweatsuit and the classic chino. The collection was presented at the iconic Chateau Marmont Hotel in Los Angeles, modeled by Devendra Banhart and live streamed to viewers.
