Where the runway meets the street

Maison Martin Margiela‘s Spring Summer 2014 collection is worth inspecting in every detail. While on a plain neutral and grey-scale color palette (besides one punctuating look in cobalt blue), the pieces couldn’t be further from being plain. The brand has always had a signature approach to deconstructing clothing, but this time, it challenges the form of basic staples even further.

Collars turned inside-out, cuffs pasted onto elbows, ties big enough to cover the stomach — and the list goes on. It seems that Margiela has also invented a new category of clothing altogether with its apron-style wraparounds that belt on above trousers.

The accessories are also noteworthy: Some amazing mid-length necklaces with rustic metal pendants and yellow ostrich leather shoes act as the creme de la creme of this collection’s endless surprises.
