D House in Chile by Panorama Arquitectos

The Chilean architecture studio Panorama Arquitectos have built this single family residence situated on a cliff front in Matanzas, Chile. The D House is contained within a large square volume, with the exterior clad in white wooden planks. It’s a minimal design which avoids detracting from the breathtaking views of the sea, and various expanses are cut out of the building, filled by windows or small terraces all of which make the most of the surrounding seascape. The top floor is rotated 45 degrees from the ground floor in order to create double-height spaces, and provide all-important spaces of shade from the strong glare of the sun.
