Prada opens its first store in the city of Doha, Qatar. The store was designed by Italian architect Roberto Baciocchi who has had a decades-long relationship with the fashion house, also having designed Prada’s stores in Tokyo, Dubai and Milan, as well as the brand’s corporate office in New York. The new Qatari store is characterized by Prada’s signature black and white checked marble floors and mirrored walls that visually enlarge the space. Different shades of green exist as velvet lining the walls and furniture, which were designed by the late Verner Panton and reproduced exclusively for Prada.
