In 1963, Abarth presented its original 595 at the Turin Motor Show and propelled the original Fiat 500 into hot-hatch territory. To mark that occasion, Fiat’s performance brand is launching a special edition version of the historic car. Set to debut at next week’s Frankfurt Motor Show, the Abarth 50th Anniversary Edition comes equipped with a 1.4-liter turbo four which provides 180 horsepower via the Abarth Competizione gearbox to the front wheels. The suspension receives a retuning while 305-mm Brembo discs, 17-inch wheels, and a variable back-pressure exhaust raise the car’s standard performance levels.
The special edition 595 is being billed as the most powerful version to date with a production run of only 299 units. Keep your eyes on the street for matte white paint, red racing stripes and retro logos in the coming months.
