Located in Perchtoldsdorf, Austria, although it could easily be Southern California, is House A&B by Smertnik Kraut Architekten. The house was designed to fit the owners’ penchant for mid-century Southern Californian Case Study houses. Shielded to the street by a large white facade, once inside the enclosure the house is opened to the outdoors by a glass-encased single-level main building and outdoor pool. The inside of the house is designed with lots of natural light and no solid walls, creating the feeling of a very fluid outdoor/indoor space. The internal furnishings of exposed concrete with elegant rosewood create a nice contrast and reference the original style of the mid-century era.
