The New Yorker bring in House Industries to be a part of their latest redesign. Starting with their popular ‘Goings On About Town‘ section, typography sits at the heart of this new look. Reaching back into the archives, old typefaces are dusted off and given a kick, custom versions of the solid Neutraface and the instantly recognisable Irvin sitting alongside illustration specific to each section, images drawn from the magazine’s early days. “House Industries type designer Ben Kiel and original Neutraface designer Christian Schwartz worked with The New Yorker creative director Wyatt Mitchell…treading lightly but firmly on nine decades of design heritage.” Check out some examples of the refresh in our gallery and press play below to hear Wyatt Mitchell’s thoughts.
