Madonna has been in the spotlight as of late and not for her music. Teaming up with frequent collaborator and photographer Steven Klein, the artist has just released a 17-minute short film to promote her new Art For Freedom project. Titled “secretprojectrevolution,” the film was unveiled at New York’s Gagosian Gallery this week, similar to Jay Z‘s music performance/art piece at Pace Gallery earlier this year. The non-narrative film harks back to her iconic “Vogue” music video, and mostly features violent footage and dance performances with a voice-over by the artist.

Madonna’s aim for the project is interesting to say the least, and only time will tell how it fares. Needless to say the current trend of celebrities-turned-artists doesn’t look to be slowing down either.
