The Thing Quarterly is an interesting publication, to say least. Rather than printed pages, the periodical takes the form of an object that incorporates text in some way under the direction of an artist, writer, filmmaker or musician. The most recent edition was headed by visual artist Tauba Auerbach, and takes the form of a 24-hour wall clock. Auerbach is a classically trained sign painter and is known for her multimedia work around language and logic. The Thing and Auerbach collaborated with New York-based design team Assembly to design and manufacture this issue almost entirely from scratch. You can pick up issue XX online for $120.
