Saunders Architecture builds a series of artist studios in Fogo Island, Canada, to revitalized the arts and culture activities of the region. Commissioned by the Shorefast Foundation and the Fogo Island Arts Corporation, most of the studios were completed in 2011, with the latest Fogo Island Inn becoming an addition this year. There are four individual studios — the Long Studio, Tower Studio, Squish Studio and Bridge Studio — each placed solitarily and rather “dramatically” apart from each other on beachfronts and rocky landscapes, with the exception of the Bridge Studio which is on a hillside by an inland pond. Each building, although different in shape and size, are all unified by sharply angular exteriors and all-white interiors. Browse the gallery for the amazing pieces of architecture.
