Marc Jacobs is leaving his position as Louis Vuitton‘s creative director to focus on his eponymous brand’s initial public offering, set to take place within the next three years. Jacobs and his business partner, Robert Duffy, were with LV for almost two decades. Currently, Nicolas Ghesquière, former creative director of Balenciaga, is in talks to take over Jacobs’s place.
With an IPO, Marc Jacobs International aims to develop new products and push its retail distribution even further. Brands that have succeeded in exponential growth through IPOs include Michael Kors and Prada, which respectively raised $944 million and $2.14 billion from them.
